Privacy Notice
What we collect when you use Sekkei, why, where it is kept, who can see it, and how you remove it.
In short
- We store what you put into Sekkei (documents, comments, decisions) and the little we need to run your account. No password, and an email address only if you choose to give one.
- We don't sell your data, show ads or track you inside the app.
- Your data lives on the Internet Computer, replicated across several independent machines. It is not end-to-end encrypted.
- You can delete your account and personal documents yourself, at any time, from your profile.
1. Who is responsible
Sekkei ("we", "us") is operated by Mario Ruci, Switzerland, who is the controller of the personal data described here. That responsibility falls under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Contact for anything about your data: info@sekkei.dev.
2. What we collect
Your account
- Your principal: a pseudonymous ID that Internet Identity creates for you, unique to Sekkei.
- Your display name and, if you add one, your profile picture.
- Your email address, if you give one at sign-up or in your profile. Other people never see it; we use it only for product news, beta updates and replies to your feedback, and you can remove it at any time in your profile.
- The organizations you belong to, your role in each, and any invites or join requests.
- For agents you register: their name, their principal and whether they may edit directly or only suggest.
What you create
- Documents and their revision history, folders, links between documents, comments, suggestions, decisions, review requests and approvals.
- Activity that makes the product work: who edited what and when, what you have read, your recent documents, your inbox and notifications.
- The same for agents: what they write is recorded under their own identity, along with a short-lived "agent is working" status.
The beta waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we keep the email address you enter and when you entered it. We use it only to tell you when a seat is open, and delete it once you have joined or if you ask us to.
Feedback
If you send feedback from inside the app, we keep what you wrote, the kind of feedback, the page you were on, your window size, your display name and, if you give one, an email address to reply to. We use it only to improve Sekkei and to answer you.
Website analytics
On our public pages (the home page and the skills page), we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and stores no identifier. It never runs inside the app.
Stored in your browser
- Your sign-in session, kept by the Internet Identity client so you stay signed in.
- Preferences such as theme and layout, and which hints you have dismissed.
- A technical cookie that tells the app which canisters to talk to. No advertising or tracking cookies.
What we don't collect
No password, phone number or payment details, and no email address unless you give one (in your profile, for the waitlist or with feedback). Plans are not live yet. When they are, payments will be handled by a payment provider, and this notice will say which one before anything changes.
3. Why we use it
- To provide the service you asked for: storing your documents, showing them to the people and agents you choose, and keeping their history. The legal basis is performing our contract with you.
- To tell you when a beta seat opens, if you joined the waitlist. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw by writing to us.
- To keep the service safe and working: rate limits, abuse prevention and fixing faults. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a reliable service.
- To understand, in aggregate, how many people visit our public pages. The legal basis is our legitimate interest, and the analytics are cookie-free and anonymous.
We don't use your content to train AI models, and we don't sell or rent your data.
4. Signing in
You sign in with Internet Identity, run by the DFINITY Foundation in Switzerland. If you choose to continue with Google, Apple or Microsoft, that provider handles that step under its own privacy policy. We receive only your Sekkei principal, never your email address or account details from those providers.
5. Where your data is kept
Sekkei runs on the Internet Computer. Your data is stored in our canisters (the app's own storage) and replicated across the independent node machines of a subnet. Those machines may be located in several countries, including outside Switzerland and the EU.
Data is not end-to-end encrypted. Access inside the app is controlled by document and organization roles. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee its security. Like any hosted service, the operator can upgrade the app's code, so you are also trusting us to run it as described here. Please don't store especially sensitive personal data, such as health or financial records, in Sekkei.
6. Who can see your data
- People and agents you give access to, according to their role on a document or organization. Organization documents are visible to that organization's members as its settings allow.
- Anyone with a public link, if you create one for a document. You can turn it off at any time.
- Your agents' providers. When you connect an AI agent, whatever it reads from Sekkei is also processed by the agent's provider, under your agreement with them.
- Service providers that make the site work: the Internet Computer network and its boundary nodes, which route requests and may see your IP address; Google Fonts, which serves our typefaces and receives your IP address when a page loads; and Cloudflare, for the public-page analytics described above.
- Authorities, only where Swiss law requires it.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account and content for as long as your account exists. Each document keeps a limited number of past revisions, and older ones are removed as new ones are saved.
When you delete your data, it is removed from the live service. Copies may remain for a limited time where that is technically unavoidable in how the network stores data, and we keep data longer only where the law requires it.
8. Deleting your data
Open your profile and choose Delete my data. This removes your account, your personal documents and everything attached to them, your memberships and shares, your pending invites and join requests, your reviews and inbox, and what you left on other people's documents.
Documents you wrote inside an organization belong to that organization and stay with it. If you own an organization, transfer it or delete it first. Before deleting, you can export any document as Markdown, HTML, PDF or Word.
9. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it. Write to info@sekkei.dev. We will reply within the time the law sets, normally 30 days. We may ask you to prove the request comes from the account holder.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, if you live in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
10. Children
Sekkei is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
11. Changes
We may update this notice. The current version, with its date, is always on this page, and where the law requires it we will tell you about significant changes.
